Below is a photo of a "digital" RCA built to transmit the "0's & 1's" from a Teac transport to a SM DAC. The client had a high end digital cable already in place but was interested in trying a Sounds Natural cable because he liked our other cables. As we do not have a dedicated 75ohm digital cable we built this one using the structure common to all our cables and used the silver/gold monocrystal conductor. As this was the first cable we'd made for this purpose we attended the installation.
As always we recommended installation & listening for 2 weeks followed by listening to the original cable for a week then the Sounds Natural cable for the last week before any decision was made. After a fairly short time (30 minutes) the client stated that the SN cable outperformed the original by a margin. The trial period was declined & the account settled. We are still debating the result. There is a strong factual basis to support the 75ohm view. There are also views which contend that below 120m the echo effect is immaterial. We take the view that the best quality build with the monocrystal, silver/gold conductor and OFC terminations produces a better quality result which overshadows any downside of the non-75 ohm resistance. The result from the first cable has since been replicated twice more - beating high end digital cables in both cases - "by a margin".
We are happy to provide a trial cable for this experimental area.
